There's no doubt about it, we live in the internet age. Hey, you're reading this on the internet now! Pretty much everyone except babies use the internet now, right?
Not exactly. Parents in the United States and other countries are beginning their baby's web presence early by securing a domain name with their baby's name. In fact, some parents even change their baby's name if the domain isn't available!
In today's world, anyone wanting to compete online needs their own website. Considering the fact that there are over 6 billion people in the world, it's now becoming a race to stake claim on your name's website. For example, the parents of little Terrence Baker Schreck would want to purchase www.TerrenceBakerShreck.com, so that someday their little boy will be able to create his own website.
But is this trend taking it a little too far?
Jay Nelson, of YeahBaby.com doesn't think so. "Eventually, an ever increasing percentage of the population will have his or her own website. Many parents may want to purchase a domain right away, even if the website isn't developed for many years. Once someone else has the domain name, you've lost out for good!"
